This bowling ball rolling down the alley is an example of kinetic energy in action
Hello! Welcome to the world of Potential and Kinetic Energy! Here, you'll learn everything youneed to know and more of the fascinating science while Annie and Anjali take on thetour of a life time. Also , if you didn't know, Potential Energy is stored energy andPotential Energy is energy in motion. So dig in, andENJOY!
Potential and Kinetic Energy and Its Advantages
You wind up your little toy and watch it move around on little plastic feet. You probably don’t know it but you just demonstrated potential and kinetic energy and, like every other engineering concept, the world would be a very different place without it. Can you imagine a world without mechanisms to make your life easier? Potential Energy is stored energy, just likea rollercoaster at the top of a hill ready to speed down. Kinetic Energy is the energy of motion, just like a bowling ball speeding down the alley. The advantage potential and kinetic energy provides is that the more potential energy stored, the more kinetic energy produced, therefore, the farther the object the energy affecting on moves. It’s exactly like when you wind up your arm to swing a bowling ball. The farther you swing your arm, the more potential energy gets stored in it. When you release the bowling ball, the potential energy stored in your arm transfers into kinetic energy in the ball, thus making it speed down the alley. So, now that you’ve read this, you can probably answer my question. Without Potential and Kinetic Energy, the world would be a very different place.
This stretched-out rubber band is an example of potential energy [stored].
